As the football season has begun this event was held at a field we have access to near Doagh.
About four plus years ago, Paul had ordered four Purito kits on behalf of the usual suspects in the club. This was the first time since then, that all four models gathered for a competition, effectively making it a single model event and that only set up and flying skill would differentiate the scores in this 5 round (1 discard) event. If Bill had been fit enough to attend, it would have been 5 Purito’s as he had bought one off Trevor McKee!
The weather was excellent, with light, variable winds. At first, lift was sparse and very rough, bouncing models all over the sky. Round 3 produced great lift with everyone staying aloft for close to the 8 minute maximum, so achieving the landing bonus was crucial to the outcome of the round. After that , competitors either found good lift or just drifted down.
It was a great competition marked by good flying and great craic. In the end the result was a clearcut win for Paul.
