The first Pures competition of the year started early at 9.00am. Skies were grey and winds light as the first round started. Lift was very light and elusive so flights were short making the landing spot was really important, particularly in Rd 1 where flights were almost straight up & down. The day warmed up thereafter allowing flights of five and six minutes, scratching in very light lift being the way of things. Pilots were flying well out to find lift and trying hard to stay with it. With only 1 discard allowed, it was important to try to stay in touch with the leaders.
Paul & Andrew tried hard to stay with Sam, but he was managing to stay just a step ahead. Bill was having a complete horror show, losing a rudder/elevator in Rd 1 and spiking the model hard in Rd2 finishing his day. Damage was minimal, but not fixable at the field.
Sam dominated the contest making the rest of us look rather average with his score of 4000. Well done Sam.
